Lazarus Chakwera conceded defeat on Wednesday in Malawi’s presidential election, doing so less than two hours before the official announcement of the final results.
Partial results released earlier showed former president Peter Mutharika, Chakwera’s predecessor, holding a decisive lead in the September 16 vote.
